Who We Are
CAPITA was founded in 1990 by the late Brother Booker Ashe and the late Ms. Arlene Skwierawski. Their goal was to draw from all areas of the community to foster multicultural awareness and racial harmony through the medium of Community Theater. Since its inception, CAPITA has worked to bring together people of diverse ages, races, and backgrounds to provide an example of how the community can work together.
What We Do
City At Peace In The Arts (CAPITA Productions, Inc.) is a unique, non-profit, multi-cultural company in Milwaukee. We partner with local schools to produce professional quality musical theater serving students and community members who have limited access to quality stage and production training. The theater provides an opportunity for students to become role models for their peers and others within the community. CAPITA has been producing and presenting annually our signature production "We Are the Drum" for many years. It is traditionally presented during Black History month. However, our program runs year-round with workshops for students and shorter performances in the community.
