Holiday Giving Tree
Are you looking for a special project to engage your employees or community group and give back this season? United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County is honored to carry on the tradition of the Holiday Giving Tree.
For more than 30 years, the Holiday Giving Tree program has been led by the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee. Beginning in 2018, United Way will manage this program, matching nonprofit agency clients with groups and workplaces looking to purchase gifts and spread cheer.
We would like to invite your company or group to participate in the Holiday Giving Tree program this year.
Here’s how to get started:
- Complete Company Survey. This survey includes contact information for the Holiday Giving Tree project at your organization and the number of tags requested. Please note, a minimum of 15 tags are required to participate. Please try to be as accurate as possible with your request for tags, as we don’t want any to go unfilled. You can always receive more tags if you run out. Please complete this survey no later than Friday, October 26, 2018.
- Get Matched with a Nonprofit Agency. You'll be matched with a nonprofit agency whose clients are in need this holiday season. Gift recipients include seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, teens and children. Depending on how many tags your organization requests, you may even be matched with more than one agency! You'll receive your tags as well as a spreadsheet containing all of the gift requests (to help you keep track) by mid-November. Please contact the nonprofit agency immediately upon receiving their information to arrange additional details including establishing a due date for the gifts, delivering gifts and inquiring about any holiday programs your and your employees could attend.
- Recruit Gift Givers! Spread the word about the Holiday Giving Tree throughout your company or group. Be sure to encourage individuals with children to get involved! The Giving Tree is an excellent opportunity to teach children the importance of giving back. Please keep your nonprofit agency and United Way informed of your progress.
