This program will help individuals and groups:

  • Set goals
  • Reconcile debts
  • Budget their spending
  • Organize financial records
  • Control cash flow
  • Become financially empowered and plan for the future
  • Save money for important purchases, including children's post-secondary education

Volunteers will receive:

  • A comprehensive training with information on tracking income and expenses, money values and influences, savings, spending and savings plans, credit reports and scores, trauma-informed care as it relates to financial education, cultural humility, health effects of financial behaviors & best practices in financial education for youth
  • Lists of other community resources of use to clients
  • Supplemental trainings throughout the year to build skills and knowledge
  • Opportunities to network with other volunteers and build relationships with local community organizations

Training Details

  • Duration: This is a 3-session course; Mondays October 7th, 14th, & 21st 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Cost: $75
  • Application Required
  • Training Site: United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County's Johnson Controls Volunteer Center- 200 W Pleasant St, Milwaukee WI 53212

Upon completion of the training, volunteers will provide lessons to clientele served by a variety of organizations, including Fund My Future Milwaukee and the Bank On coalition.
