The annual Aurora Family Service Family to Family Thanksgiving event will be taking place at AFS on Friday 11/22, Saturday 11/23 and Monday 11/25.
Volunteers just like you will be distributing Thanksgiving meals with all the trimmings to 3,100 needy families in the greater Milwaukee area.
Friday, 11/22, 9am-12pm. Dry goods are unloaded from the delivery truck into our building for the bagging that takes place on Saturday.
Saturday, 11/23, 8am-2pm. Dry goods are broken down from their cases and bagged up into 3,100 individual bags. You are more than welcome to come for all or part of the time. The more hands on deck the sooner we are done!
Monday, 11/25, 3 shifts, 9-12:30, 12:30-3:30 and 3:30-7. Various organizations that AFS partners with come to pick up the meals that have been allotted to their organization for them to then take to their needy families. Numerous volunteers are needed to help bring the meals out to the cars as they arrive for pick up.
This event is quite a spectacle to see and truly gives a heartwarming experience for both those receiving as well as those helping to distribute the Thanksgiving meals.
