Are you interested in making a positive impact on inpatients in our hospitals without leaving your home?

We would love to have you on our team!  We are looking for volunteers to call inpatients while in the hospital to welcome them to our care, relay visitation guidelines and inquire how their stay has been.

If/when patients recognize staff for providing exceptional care, we send recognition emails to the staff members with a copy to their leader.

Volunteer: Make Friendly Phone Calls to Seniors in your Community (Waukesha County)

We are putting out a call for volunteers to join the Friendly Phone Call program! This program pairs an Eras client with a volunteer to have regular conversations by phone. The Friendly Phone Call program is a longer-term commitment (12+ weeks) and seeks to decrease social isolation and reduce the feelings of loneliness in our clients.

How does it work?

The volunteer will complete an application, be screened, and matched with a client(s). The volunteer calls the client to introduce themselves and, along with the client, decides when and how often they should connect (usually between 2-4 times a month, with calls typically lasting 20 minutes or less- but may be longer if time permits). After each call, the volunteer lets Eras know whether they were able to connect with the client (through a quick email, phone call, or online survey). If a client asks for a ride, assistance, resources, or has questions or concerns, volunteers should refer them to our main line. Eras staff will follow up on any additional needs that the client has. Repeat!

To sign up to volunteer for this or other opportunities, please visit our website: https://eras.org/volunteer/become-a-volunteer/ or call us at 414-488-6931 and we can assist you over the phone.

Volunteer: Become a School-based Big!

SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING

School-based mentoring is a facilitated one-to-one mentoring program for Bigs and Littles to meet weekly at a partner elementary or middle school location. This provides an exceptional learning opportunity for Littles and allows matches to work together to achieve educational goals. Bigs must be 18+ and out of high school, and commit to meeting with their Little once a week during the school year for at least one year. Matches work on homework, play games, and enjoy interactive activities together!

Bigs and Littles are matched based on similar interests, personalities, and experiences.

A Big Brother is matched with a Little Brother in 1st through 8th grade. A Big Sister can be matched with either a Little Sister in 1st through 8th grade, or a Little Brother in 1st through 5th grade.

As a mentor, you will:

Help a child develop positive attitudes towards school. Encourage educational success.  Help boost a child's confidence and improve their relationships with peers. Receive ongoing professional support from a dedicated BBBS staff member.

Being a volunteer mentor is a rewarding, meaningful, and fun experience! Mentoring relationships have a huge impact; helping to increase a child’s educational expectations, attitudes towards risky behavior, and social skills.

Are you ready to take the next steps in changing a child’s life? Go to our website to learn more about the enrollment process and apply! With questions, please contact our Customer Relations Specialist at (414) 831-4563 to outline the next steps including our formal application process.
