Description

Almost 14% of African-Americans in Milwaukee are unemployed vs. 2.7% of Caucasians – the largest gap of any American metropolitan area.  United Way’s Diversity Leadership Society’s signature initiative is reducing barriers to employment and advancement, anchored in the belief that all adults of working age in our community should have the opportunity to obtain permanent employment with a livable wage at a workplace where they are treated with dignity and have opportunities for advancement.  On Tuesday, January 21, United Way will host a luncheon at the Johnson Controls Volunteer Center to share how we are tackling this issue and to prepare job seeker tool kits to be distributed to our partner agencies leading employment readiness programs as well as the annual Women’s and Men’s Job Seminars in Milwaukee & Waukesha counties. Light lunch provided.
