Wisconsin is now accepting handmade Personal Protective Equipment masks (with the approved pattern only, available here): https://chw.org/-/media/files/for-patients-and-families/covid-19/mask-guidelines.pdf?la=en).
During this time of shortages in the face of important need, Children's Wisconsin is inviting crafters, people who sew, and people who want to help make a difference to sew masks at home.
Once you make the mask per the very specific directions above, deliver them Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. at the Children’s Corporate Center lobby at 999 North 92nd St., Milwaukee and the hospital will insert filters after masks are provided.
Important items to note:
- Do not make masks for donation if there is anyone in your home who:
- Smokes
- Has tested positive for COVID-19
- Has any symptoms of any respiratory illness
- Please prewash fabric, wash your hands and work in a clean environment.
- Work with the supplies you have at home.
- If you do not have elastic options, you can drop off the masks without elastic and the hospital will add elastic and the filters for the pocket.
- The hospital is in need of large, thin, metal-free elastic hair ties that are 6” long (pony tail rubber bands with covering).
- Please do not try the masks on.
Thank you for your efforts and you willingness to support our community through volunteering your time and talents!
