Opportunities From: Volunteers United

Join the City of Waukesha's Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department to build a playground! If you or your group would like to volunteer all day, please sign up for both the morning and afternoon shifts. Come alone, with your neighbors or with a group and help to assemble, place, and complete one of Waukesha's newest playgrounds.  There are tons of fun features to keep the kids having fun. 

*Please note that volunteers are required to be at least 18 years old to participate in this community playground build*

Items to bring: Suncreen, bug spray, water bottle, closed toed shoes, & work gloves.

Join us for a planting project along the Frame Park River Corridor! We'll be adding vibrant allium bulbs to a variety of planter beds as we move along a scenic 1.7-mile stretch of the river. Volunteers will help plant bulbs at several stops along the path, creating colorful blooms that will flourish in the seasons ahead. Volunteers must be at least 18.

Buckthorn, particularly common and glossy buckthorn, is a highly invasive plant in Wisconsin, posing significant threats to native ecosystems. Introduced as a hedge plant, it has spread aggressively, outcompeting native vegetation and disrupting natural habitats. Buckthorn's dense growth, early spring leaves, and late-season leaf retention create dense shade, hindering the growth of other plants, especially tree seedlings. It also produces berries that are attractive to birds, but the seeds are spread by the birds, contributing to buckthorn's rapid spread. We need your help in removing Buckthorn from our parks. Please note volunteers must be at least 18 to participate.

Oktoberfest is back — and it's one of the most exciting events of the year! This lively celebration brings the heart of Bavaria right to Wisconsin, with toe-tapping music, mouthwatering food, and, of course, plenty of festive cheer (and beer!).

The city of Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry department is looking for individuals, families, community groups, or businesses to adopt one of Waukesha's many beautiful parks or trails. More information on how you can adopt a park or trail can be found here.

Are you interested in cleaning up a park, in mulching trails, or removing invasive species.  We have ongoing projects throughout the year that you can assist us with.
