Opportunities From: Volunteers United

We provide our lunches to our youth and young adults Tuesday-Friday, and hot dinners on Wednesdays and Fridays. Our lunches are served in grab-n-go style and dinners can either be dropped off or served in-person. We offer our dinner meal donors the opportunity to serve their dinner in person and sit down with our youth and young adults to enjoy the meal they have prepared.

With the seasons and trends often changing, our clothing bank is always in need of a refresh. We are looking for a group to come on-site to help us organize the space.

We provide dinner to about 25 youth and young adults every Wednesday and Friday. Volunteers prepare the meal and are invited to sit down to enjoy it with our youth. Our clients appreciate having the opportunity to engage with outside community members over a meal.

Pathfinders is seeking support from community members to assemble Welcome Home Kits for youth transitioning from homelessness and housing instability into their first apartment. Moving in is an exciting step for our young people. However, without everyday items, simple tasks such as taking a shower or cooking a meal, remain a luxury. These kits equip our youth with the basic essentials we all need to function comfortably and safely in our homes.

With warmer months ahead, our youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability are in need of summer supplies. Help out by putting together Summer Supply Bags for our street outreach team to distribute during the summer months. These bags are typically put together using a drawstring bag and include sun screen, a bottle of water (or reusable water bottle), bug spray, a rain poncho, a cooling towel, body cleansing wipes, a flashlight, and whatever else you would like to include.

Pathfinders provides assistance to help find, secure, and sustain safe housing for our young people experiencing homelessness or are experiencing housing instability. We do our work with a housing first approach, believing that housing is an essential tool for success and not a reward for program compliance.

Although moving in to an apartment is an exciting step for our young people, without everyday cleaning supplies, the barrier of living in a healthy environment will still be a barrier. We are asking community members to donate the following cleaning supplies so that our youth can have safe, clean, and healthy homes.

Pathfinder's Youth Shelter provides emergency housing and supportive services to homeless and runaway youth. Assistant Advocates assist with the physical and counseling needs of the youth and help staff maintain the high level of care it provides. They provide the day-to-day supervision of the residents and the guidance, support, and encouragement needed to return to a safe place.   

Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day activities of resident youth Answer phones and provide information information, referrals and crisis counseling Complete intakes, facilitate groups and resident orientations Assist staff with general house management

Qualifications:

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Must be age 21 or older Possess experience or an interest in working with teens and their families Demonstrate a lifestyle and value system that is in accordance with the interests of the youth Be able to make a 4 hour a week commitment for a minimum of 6 months Be able to pass reference and background checks

Picking up litter and other detritus to beautify our location and block(s). Depending on weather, and how quickly this project is completed, the group may also help organize our storage area located inside of our building.
