Volunteer: Bag Lunches needed for Women in Treatment

Meta House needs YOUR help to provide lunches for clients!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Meta House strives to provide a lunch for each outpatient client while they're here receiving services. Many of our clients face food insecurity; your generous donation of bagged lunches ensures they have a full belly so they can fully engage in their recovery journey.


DETAILS

We ask volunteers to assemble and donate a minimum of 20 bag lunches, including a sandwich and at least two sides, packed in a paper bag. We welcome your creativity! Some donors include affirmations or uplifting quotes that help clients navigate challenging days. Lunches need to be dropped off by noon on the reserved date. We welcome volunteers to participate one-time, weekly, monthly - everyone is invited to get involved!

Volunteer: Part-time virtual communications and fundraising specialist

We are looking for a volunteer, part-time communications and fundraising specialist to help increase our presence (online and within the community) and to grow our online fundraising. S/he will work remotely from home and closely with the Executive Director.

If you believe in supporting Black women who have experienced trauma and want to be a part of the healing process, this is the volunteer opportunity for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Telephone Reassurance Program is looking for volunteers to offer a friendly and familiar voice on the phone on a regular basis.  Our services are offered at no charge to all seniors, 60 years or older who live alone, in Milwaukee County.  Volunteers will be matched with individuals who request the service with the goal of eliminating some of the concerns facing homebound seniors who live alone, thereby reducing social isolation. With deep roots in the southside of Milwaukee, our programs and services span housing, basic needs, violence prevention, youth development, senior health and wellness, and community building, reflecting our core areas of expertise and unwavering commitment to our community, serving more than 8,000 people each year. What began with American Baptist roots providing outreach to immigrants in 1921, MCC now primarily serves low-income people in the most historically underserved neighborhoods including focuses on older adults, young adults, families.


A Celebration of Strong Neighborhoods: A Vibrant Future, will be held on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 and this event would not be possible without our Event Committee that meets virtually over the lunch hour once per month. This event includes delicious appetizers from Antigua Latin Cuisine, live Latin Jazz music, silent auction, live auction and paddle raise. 

The Event Committee will focus on the following:

Generating sponsor leads from businesses connected to MCC’s mission, those with personal connections to you, MCC or board members, or simply businesses who MCC values. Auction Procurement

Generating leads for item procurement and complete outreach to potential silent auction donors either in-person, through phone calls or emails. Assist with bundling donated items into packages and taking photographs for MCC staff to upload into mobile bidding platform.

Planning and Event Logistics

Assist with coordinating event day details including event timeline, activities, and general event flow. Assist with volunteering on event day for set-up, registration, silent auction check out, clean-up, or assist with garnering additional event day volunteers.

Meetings will begin in late February  and will continue on a monthly basis through July 2025.

This provides an exceptional learning opportunity for Littles and allows matches to work together to achieve educational goals. Bigs must be 18+ and out of high school, and commit to meeting with their Little once a week during the school year for at least one year. Matches work on homework, play games, and enjoy interactive activities together!

Bigs and Littles are matched based on similar interests, personalities, and experiences.

A Big Brother is matched with a Little Brother in 1st through 8th grade. A Big Sister can be matched with either a Little Sister in 1st through 8th grade, or a Little Brother in 1st through 5th grade.

As a mentor, you will:
