We have been working hard to promote the new accessible icon project here in our community. The accessible icon project is working to update the traditional international symbol of accessibility (ISA). The new accessible icon improves the old image by showing that people with disabilities are more independent, active, and engaged in their communities.
Our advocacy team here at ACAP will be painting accessible parking spaces with the new icon periodically throughout the summer at various locations. We are looking for volunteers to help! We paint a 3x3 blue square and then use white spray paint for the icon using our stencil.
The dates are still to be determined but we will be painting between the times of 9:30-2:30 Monday-Friday. Painting can take anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on the amount of accessible parking spaces.
