Look behind the scenes of Waukesha County’s only shelter serving survivors of abuse at TWC’s Sunrise Speaker Series!
Whether you’re a long-time supporter or just discovering the wide range of victim services we provide, we invite you to join us for a morning of enlightenment and inspiration. The Sunrise Speaker Series is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about the work we do, who we serve, and how to access our services.
Each presentation includes time for a brief Q&A session and a tour of our building.
From Hotline to Shelter – The Intake Process
Wednesday, October 22nd at 8:00-9:30 AM
Join TWC Director of Shelter & Transitional Living, Jessi Trauth, to learn more about who we serve and why, what goes on in an emergency shelter, and how we try to make it feel like home for the hundreds of people who utilize it each year. Thankfully, most people will never have to stay in our shelter, but this can often lead to myths and misconceptions about what it looks like to stay here. We know many will picture a cold institution filled with heartbreak and sorrow.
At The Women’s Center, our goal is to make our shelter feel as close to home as possible so that clients and families feel safe to rest, decompress, and experience moments of joy. We want our residents to feel like they are in a safe haven, somewhere they can start their new life free from abuse.
