Help people with disabilities access COVID-19 vaccines!

The Problem 

Despite being at an increased risk for COVID-19, people with disabilities face greater barriers to getting vaccines, including lack of transportation to vaccination sites, lack of resources to find a site near them, and other barriers. In response, Independence First has taken steps to raise awareness of these issues and help more people get vaccinated against COVID-19 through ad campaigns, vaccine clinics, and outreach. 

As an extension of those efforts and in response to the newly available bivalent booster, Independence First will host a Friendly Phone Bank for Community Vaccines on Friday, November 18th at 1PM at the main office at 540 S. 1st Street in Milwaukee. 

How You Can Help

Volunteers will call people with disabilities to let them know about the latest booster and how they can find a vaccination site near them. If they face barriers to getting a vaccine or are experiencing other issues, they can be connected to resources available to them through Independence First. These friendly phone calls will help connect people to vaccines as well as help Independence First better understand the needs of the people they serve.

No experience or knowledge is needed to volunteer as training and a script will be provided, making this event a fun, easy way to help connect people to life-saving COVID-19 vaccinations!
