Summer Community Clean-up Day

Our community clean-up program is a collaborative effort between our summer day camp program (approximately 50 children between the ages of 7 and 13 plus our adult and youth staff) and the PHAT program (Promoting Health Among Teens).  This is a summer-ending event designed to bring children and adults together to help beautify their neighborhood.  It is also a celebration of the wonderful summer we have shared together and a send-off to the new school year.  We will divide into groups to clean up the park area and the surrounding neighborhood.  After the clean-up is finished, there will be activities for the youth and a cook-out.  We are reaching out to the police department to see if their community liaison team will talk to the youth and also serve ice cream.  We are asking the volunteers to lead the clean up crews and help with the overall clean up effort.  After that, we would like them to help with the cook out and serve food to the youth and adults that are participating.
