Serve on a Deployment Officer team and support the national organization and build Regional capacity by recruiting, assigning and deploying existing DSHR members into disaster relief operations of any scale regionally or nationally.
- Available to take “on-call” shifts during office hours and more importantly on weekend during periods of heavy recruitment.
- Orient and assign deploying volunteers using systems and forms as required by American National Red Cross.
- Monitor DSHR requests for staff on open recruitments for Territory 6.
- Communicate with DSHR members about positions, length of assignment, hardship codes, etc.
- Send e-mail communication to update member availability and confirm member’s availability for assignment.
- Liaise with DSHR Territory Team Leader to obtain further assignment details (location, hardship codes etc.)
- Assign members to disaster relief operations in DSHR and/or DROMIS.
- Provide member pre-assignment paperwork and review once complete
- Deploy members to disaster relief operations
- Ensure member completes online orientation
- Issue Disaster Staff Card
- Create and issue DSHR identification badges, as needed.
- Provide appropriate manuals for DSHR members as they deploy.
- Welcome DSHR members back from assignments
- Ensure follow up meetings with a Director or Manager are happening
- Liaise with any or all of the following as dictated by disaster level: Regional Disaster leadership and paid staff, DSHR Territory leadership
- Work on the DSHR system to familiarize with people, positions, training, etc.
- Maintain good communication with disaster volunteers, and provide reports and updates as necessary to the Disaster Services team on positions available and members assigned and deploying
- Attend conference calls or training directly related to the Regional Deployment Officer position.

8 hours per week or on a rotating schedule according to availability. Friday afternoons and weekend availability during spring season and hurricane season; ad-hoc when large national disaster relief operations are happening.
