The Fresh Coast Classic College and Resource Fair will take place at the University of WisconsinMilwaukee Student Union (2200 E. Kenwood Boulevard) on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Fresh Coast Classic College and Resource Fair gives high school students an opportunity to explore historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and other colleges around the country. Students also get a chance to attend breakout sessions throughout the day. Breakout session topics include (but are not limited to) information on how to obtain scholarship money, FAFSA completion, and NCAA athletic eligibility at the college level. Information is presented as well on apprenticeships, technical schools, and careers in the military.

Volunteer shifts run from 8:00AM-11:00AM and 11:00AM-3:00PM.

Volunteers are Needed for the Following Roles:

Educational Sessions -Room Liaison (12): Usher students into chairs. Assist the educational session presenter(s), as needed. Accompany groups during tour, if needed. Ensure no student is left behind.

Educational Session -Support/Traffic Flow Monitor 2nd Floor (6): Help with directing students to Educational rooms or back downstairs to the fair/buses. Place Yellow FCC bags on chairs before AM/ PM introduction sessions.

College Fair Registration Desk (1-2): Right outside the Ballroom entrance. Hand out game cards/ Yellow FCC Bags to all who did not attend an informational session, remind the students that if they complete the game card, they get FREE admission to the basketball tournament Nov 24-25 at the UWM Klotsche Center, answer questions and give directions.

Stairwell Monitor (2): Direct students as they travel between the Educational sessions and the college fair, ensure that no students wander from the group.

Traffic Flow Monitor 1st Floor Entrance (6): Direct students through the halls, to the college fair and the Educational sessions. Answer questions and give directions.

Staff Break Room Monitor (1): Ensure that only volunteers, staff and vendors are allowed in the break room. Connect with catering staff if more items are needed. (Union 183)

Exterior Traffic Flow Monitor (4): Direct students to/from the Union as they arrive and depart at Maryland Ave between Lubar building and Hartford Avenue School.

Roving Support/Surveyors/Breakers (8): Walk around both floors to help where needed and give breaks to other volunteers. Encourage students in the ballroom to visit more tables. Survey students in the ballroom using 4-6 iPads provided.
