Group needed to help assemble a playground for children and children with special needs on Friday, September 7th. Your group of 8 -10 volunteers can do a 9AM - 5PM shift, a 9AM - 1PM shift or a 1pm - 5pm shift. The playground will be assembled as part of a Community Green Space being built for Bradley Crossing and Weinberg Residences at JFS Housing in Brown Deer.
The half-acre Community Green Space will contain garden beds, a pavilion, picnic area, walking path, activity area, and playground to foster 'community' for the individuals and families residing at Bradley Crossing and Weinberg Residences, These are 114 low-to-moderate income apartments with individuals and mostly single parent families in apartments that include individuals or family members with disabilities or mental health challenges. A Community Integration Program provides social services, transportation and a monthly calendar of activities.
In 2009, Jewish Family Services took action to address the urgent community need for safe and affordable housing options for individuals with disabilities, seniors and low-income families. This led to the opening of Deerwood Crossing Senior Residences and Bradley Crossing Supportive Housing Community located at the intersection of Sherman Blvd. and Bradley Rd. in Brown Deer.
