Come assist with harvesting produce from our Cream City Garden. The produce will be used to make a wonderful meal provided at our annual Harvest Fest on September 13th. It's a great opportunity to contribute to feeding the community! Larger groups can also help with additional garden tasks such as weeding or cleaning up.
Opportunity Tasks/Project: Harvest, weed, water, or clean up our garden.
Date of Volunteer Opportunity: September 10th
Length of Commitment: 2-4 hours
Items Needed: Bring garden/work glove, bring water, and dress appropriately.
Impact of Opportunity: Guest House is located in a food desert with limited fresh food options. Many residents of the King Park neighborhood, where Guest House is located, take public transportation. This limits easy access to fresh produce. The Cream City Garden provides fresh produce to our shelter guests and neighborhood residents as they are encouraged to take produce as needed. Any additional produce that is not used is donated to an area food bank and pay-as-you-can cafe called Tricklebee.
