Have you ever wondered who benefits from your United Way support? United Way's Intern Day of Action will provide volunteers with an opportunity to connect with people who have utilized IMPACT 2-1-1, Southeastern Wisconsin's 24-hour central access point for information and referral to family, health and social service resources. This is a great activity that will enrich you and the people touched by IMPACT 2-1-1. You will use state-of-the-art equipment in one of the busiest 2-1-1 operations centers in the United States. You will talk with people who have used the service and ask a series of scripted questions to gauge satisfaction and track appropriateness of referrals provided. You will understand the complexity of our client's needs and the benefit IMPACT 2-1-1 provides in their efforts to regain stability in their lives. Volunteers will place follow-up calls to individuals who have previously contacted IMPACT 2-1-1 and been connected to food, shelter, affordable healthcare, substance abuse assistance and other resources. Volunteers will ask basic questions and document responses manually. The three-hour commitment includes a 30-minute orientation/training session, a two-hour phone session, and a 30-minute wrap-up with Q&A. Each call's duration, including documentation, is approximately ten minutes.
