Home Delivery shifts currently occur on the fourth Friday of every month at Hope House (209 W. Orchard St., Milwaukee). However, the program is growing, and we may be adding additional shifts soon! At the moment, the shifts run as such: Volunteers will arrive at Hope House in the afternoon at 1:00. From 1:00-2:00, they will pack boxes of food – keeping non-perishables and fresh food separate – using a predetermined packing plan. Once all of the necessary boxes are packed, they will be taken upstairs and loaded in the volunteer’s vehicles. The volunteers will then be tasked with dropping off anywhere from 2-10 boxes depending on the route. This usually takes no more than an hour, and all routes stay within a 5 mile radius of the pantry. Volunteers will receive a list of all the addresses and client names and a reference sheet in case of problems. This shift requires volunteers to have a car and be able to lift 25-50 lbs at a time.
