Feed the Kids is a summer meal program designed to meet the needs of children in Milwaukee neighborhoods with the greatest needs. Feed the Kids 2021, program served 44,540 meals over the 10-week program. The Salvation Army vans bring lunch meals to neighborhoods, parks and street corners to serve an average of 2,000 lunches each day, Monday - Friday, for approximately 10 weeks each summer June 17-August 20, and our the June 13 Kickoff.
The meal assembly for the Feed the Kids program is completely volunteer supported. Twenty volunteers are needed Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. (or until meal assembly is completed). The program takes place at The Salvation Army's Distribution Center located at 5880 N 60 Street, Milwaukee, WI.
Youth under age 18 must have approval from parent or guardian in order to volunteer. This form is available to print here: Parental Consent Form Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of teens or children require one adult per every four children. Due to extra precautionnary measures anyone 18 or older must complete an online Background Check and Safe from Harm Training (corporate groups are omitted).
Duties include: Meal preparation, assembly, light clean-up and room set-up for the next day.
