Volunteers in this role support La Casa de Esperanza’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program by serving as the first point of contact for clients during their tax appointments. Program Support Assistant / Intake Screener volunteers play a vital role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and welcoming tax preparation services. Key Responsibilities
• Welcome and assist clients at the beginning of their tax appointments (in-person or virtually)
• Make copies of tax documents and identification cards
• Guide clients through the completion of required intake and consent forms, ensuring all questions are fully answered
• Review intake forms for completeness and accuracy
• Organize and deliver client files to IRS-certified tax preparers for review
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information Training & Certification
• Intake Screener volunteers are required to obtain IRS certification
• La Casa de Esperanza provides training sessions and support to assist volunteers in completing the certification process
