Are you interested in supporting folks who have experienced sexual and/or domestic violence? Then consider becoming a hotline volunteer!
Hotline Volunteers are responsible for responding to our 24-hour confidential hotline at the Aurora Healing Center at Sinai Hospital. Volunteers will work within the Healing Center at Sinai and answer calls coming through the hotline. Volunteers will be trained to assess and address the needs of the caller by providing information and referrals, emotional support, and crisis intervention. Volunteers may also assist with some office support during their shifts as well!
This position requires a minimum of 8 hours of coverage per month and a minimum of a 6-month commitment. Shifts are very flexible!
Extensive volunteer training is required for this position, and the next volunteer training is:
- Wednesday, October 22 5:30pm-8:30pm (virtual)
- Thursday, October 23 5:30pm-8:30pm (virtual)
- Tuesday, October 28 5:30pm-8:30pm (virtual)
- Wednesday, October 29 5:30pm-8:00pm (in-person at Aurora Sinai)
On top of these real time trainings (which will be a combination of both virtual and in person), there are some pre-recorded trainings that volunteers must watch on their own time. Training is about 12 hours total.
